Syrian Crisis: Protecting Children
The NGO Disaster Relief Forum (NDRF) is hosting a forum to mark World Humanitarian Day on the 19th August. The forum will focus on the crisis in Syria and the protection of children. The keynote speaker is Andy Robinson of TEAR FUND who until recently was working in Lebanon, with refugees in the Bekaa Valley, on the border with Syria. And in Jordan, working with urban-based refugees (those living ouside of the Zaatari refugee camp.) The forum will also have New Zealanders talking directly from the field in the Syria region and local Syrian community in Auckland. This event is open to the public and academics, NGOs, government agencies and others interested in the topic. 
The NDRF comprises 17 international humanitarian agencies: Adventist Development Relief Agency New Zealand,Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand, CBM New Zealand, ChildFund New Zealand, Christian World Service, Habitat for Humanity, The Leprosy Mission New Zealand, Oxfam New Zealand, RedR, Rotary New Zealand World Community Service, The Salvation Army New Zealand, Save the Children New Zealand, Surf Aid International, Tear Fund New Zealand, UNICEF New Zealand, World Vision New Zealand, WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals).

The NGO Disaster Relief Forum (NDRF) is hosting an event focusing on the crisis in Syria and the protection of children to mark World Humanitarian Day this coming Monday (19 August).

The keynote speaker is Andy Robinson of TEAR FUND who until recently was working in Lebanon, with refugees in the Bekaa Valley, on the border with Syria; and in Jordan, working with urban-based refugees (those living outside of the Zaatari refugee camp.) His address will be followed by a panel discussion with speakers from Amnesty International (Amanda Brydon), TEARFund (Andy Robinson), the Red Cross (Judy Owen), and Ali Akil from Syrian solidarity.

This event is open to the public and academics, NGOs, government agencies and others interested in the topic. This is a great opportunity to meet people and come together to learn about and help advocate against Syrian crisis, plus there will be plenty of time to ask any questions you may have!
