Amnesty International in association with the High Commission of Canada presents a screening of the National Film Board Canada’s documentary ‘Last Chance’.
Last Chance tells the stories of five LGBTI asylum seekers who flee their native countries to escape homophobic violence and intimidation and seek safety in Canada.
Follow them as they leave their homes and try to settle into life in a new country, awaiting news that could change their lives and living in fear of being deported.
Following the Auckland screening there will be the opportunity to hear first hand the story of Eliana Rubashnyk who came to NZ from Colombia in similar circumstance in a panel discussion alongside Christian Desroches from the High Commission of Canada and Rebecca Emery of Amnesty NZ.
