Shark awareness week runs from 9 to 15th September. WWF is hosting two Wellington events:
The underwater world of sharks!
When: Thursday, 12th September
Where: Soundings Theatre, Te Papa, WELLINGTON
Time: Exhibition open from 5:30-9pm
Talks start at 6pm
Come and hear a varied line-up of speakers, including Dr Malcolm Francis (NIWA) and Andrew Stewart (Te Papa), discuss shark biology, taxonomy, research, mythology, and conservation. Don't miss the special temporary display of fresh and preserved shark specimens, and an opportunity for Q&A with experts.
Space is limited.
Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
When: Sunday, 15th September
Where: Island Bay Marine Education Centre, WELLINGTON
Time: Open from 10am-3pm
Admission: $4 adults, $2 children
Come see NZ sharks up close and personal, and learn more about the conservation issues they face. Displays will include live sharks, a touch-gently pool, "fish of the week“, and preserved specimens. Scientists, experts, and shark ambassadors will be in attendance throughout the day to answer any of your questions. Decorate your own shark fin to show your support.
