Amnesty’s global letter writing event – Write for Rights – will take place again this year in early December.
This is an opportunity to take advantage of a time of year when many of us send out cards during the festive season and to write messages of solidarity and support to those unfairly detained or at risk.
We’ll be prioritising four cases - Cambodian forced evictions activist Yorm Bopha; Ethiopian journalist Eskinder Nega; Belarus LGBTI activist Ihar Tsikhanyuk and Myanmarese (Burma) community leader Dr Tun Aung.
The Wellington Regional Team will be meeting to write letters for rights on Saturday 7th December from 10am until 2pm at Clarkes cafe above the main Public Library.
All are welcome to come along at any time. Bring laptops or pen and paper and do buy a cup of coffee as the cafe are generously setting aside a spot for us. We will have case cards and other materials for each of the 4 individuals at risk.
Not in Wellington? For a full list of where and when these letter writing events are taking place check out Amnesty Internationals website here.
