NZ Humanitarian aid worker Mark Mitchell has just returned from a month in South Sudan, where he has been scaling up Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand’s relief efforts in the midst of one of the world’s worst ongoing humanitarian crises. South Sudan is suffering a brutal civil war that has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians and displaced over a million. In the midst of the fighting, a devastating drought is exacerbating one of the worst food security crises in a generation, affecting over 20 million people across the region.

Mark Mitchell is the Humanitarian Programmes Coordinator at Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand where he has worked for the last six years. Mark has significant experience, spanning almost 20 years, in humanitarian logistics and has responded to humanitarian emergencies and conflicts across Africa, Europe and Asia. Join Mark as he shares the day-to-day experiences of South Sudanese living in the face of this protracted crisis, and the international community’s efforts to assist them.

Please pass this on to your colleagues. Gold coin donation from non-CID members appreciated.
