One of our planet's most honoured campaigners for a secure future beyond nuclear weapons, Dr Caldicott left a successful medical career in hospitals to raise global awareness about the health and environmental dangers of nuclear energy. When she first spoke in NZ in 1983, she gave a huge boost to the accelerating nuclear-free zone movement here. She has been active in Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), authored "Crisis Without End" and "If You Love This Planet", and has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
