The Hedgehog Concept, discovered and explained in the book Good to Great by Jim Collins, sets out a framework for identifying what organisations can be truly great at and where they should be focussing their efforts. Hear how Trade Aid has taken practical steps to implement this understanding and what they have learnt from the process, while participating in an interactive activity that will see CID’s opportunity for greatness divulged. http://www.jimcollins.com/
This NGO workshop is designed to explore a range of approaches for enhancing livelihoods in the varied contexts in which New Zealand-based international NGOs work. Participants will be presented with real-life experiences (including successes and failures) in economic development, invited to share best practice, and challenged through facilitated discussion to consider alternative economic approaches.

There have been signals from Government encouraging NGOs to develop partnerships with other NGOs or with private sector organisations in the context of their future development initiatives.
However, successful partnering is not necessarily an easy or rapid process. Thought Partners are running a 1.5 day workshop in Auckland ( 2/3 Nov.) called “Partnering for Results”. For details and registration can be found at Thought Partners
2011 Sharing and Learning Calendar for CID Member Organisations
At CID we are hoping to leverage the depth of knowledge across the CID membership and enable CID members to further develop their capacity in the Development sector.
Our Sharing and Learning events will begin with a regional/CID member discussion loosely facilitated by the hosting organisation. This is your chance to catch up with other organisations' news, to share problems and solutions or to network with organizations involved in similar activities to yourselves.
Please note that only CID members that have paid up for this financial year will be able to attend these events free of charge.
We will send out reminders a week prior to each event and continue to update events as information comes to hand. We hope you find these CID Sharing and Learning sessions of interest and are able to participate.
If you would like to host an event for the 2012 event please contact wren@cid.org.nz. Your contribution will be welcomed.
Please view our sharing and learning calendar.
