2019 Pacific Update

3 July 9:00am - 4 July 5:00pm
University of the South Pacific’s Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji

The 2019 Pacific Update will be hosted by the Development Policy Centre and the University of South Pacific’s School of Economics on 3-4 July at the University of the South Pacific’s Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji.

The Pacific Update is the premier forum for the discussion of important public policy issues in the region. It is open to the public and gathers policymakers, academics, researchers, business people, and development practitioners to discuss economic, social, political and environmental developments in the Pacific.

The two day multidisciplinary conference will examine policy-relevant subjects of importance in the region, including gender equality, economic development, climate change, labour mobility, resource management, and regionalism. High quality papers on other issues of importance to the region may also be considered.

Submit your abstract through the abstract submission form here.

Organised panels of up to four presenters are also invited. Panel organisers have considerable flexibility and can present a roundtable discussion rather than a series of papers if desired. Panel organisers should submit a Word document providing the panel title, a short summary of the panel theme, and the names, position titles, and institutions of your proposed panellists, along with their abstracts (if relevant). Please email the Word document directly to devpolicy@anu.edu.au with “2019 Pacific Update – panel proposal” in the subject line.

The submission deadline is 28 March 2019.

Download the call for papers flyer here.

Decisions on accepted papers will be announced on 12 April 2019. Funding for travel and accommodation is available for a limited number of participants based outside of Suva, Fiji.

The conference is open to the public and registration is free. Register here.
