PACIFIC ISLAND FOOD REVOLUTION – BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chair (x1) and Non-Executive Director (x1)

  • Bi-monthly board meetings (approx. 8 hours per month)

Pacific Island Food Revolution (PIFR) is an innovative social, economic and behaviour change programme promoting healthy food, lifestyles and sustainable food systems in the Pacific region to combat non-communicable disease (NCDs).

Responding to the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) crisis in the Pacific, PIFR is reinvigorating the importance of a healthy diet using television, radio, social media and community engagement to connect with people across the Pacific. It is proving to be an effective platform in response to COVID- 19, promoting local food systems, economic recovery, plus healthy and resilient communities.

The program has been funded for the past three (3) years as a pilot by the governments of Australia and New Zealand, with the current phase due to come to an end on September 30, 2021.

PIFR commenced in 2018 and operates in Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga. It has matured beyond its initial three-year pilot and is now in the process of establishing an independent charitable entity in New Zealand and has ambitions to expand its operations further into the Pacific and beyond.

As PIFR enters this new phase, we are seeking to appoint a talented and passionate Board of Directors to assist with governance, strategy, and the future growth, impact and sustainability of the organisation.

Pacific Island Food Revolution (PIFR) are seeking talented individuals for the roles of Chair (x1) & Non- Executive Director (x1)

 

Purpose

The Board’s purpose is to:

  • Provide strategic oversight for PIFR’s operations, procedures, policies, delivery and outcomes.
  • Support PIFR senior leadership team with decision making and business strategy.
  • Promote PIFR and their activities throughout their network and with key stakeholders, donor/investment partners and community.
  • Uphold PIFR’s vision and principles and be a PIFR ambassador and ‘Food Warrior.’

Board Members

Board members will have expertise and extensive experience in following key competencies, ideally coupled with direct experience working in international markets, including the Pacific region:

  •  Governance
  •  Financial management
  •  Investment, Fundraising, Donor Aid experience    Legal & commercial
  • Networks with donor and aid agencies, NGO’s and multi-lateral government agencies    Health (ideally with Pacific experience/knowledge)
  • Television/media network expertise and professional network (regional and global)

Board Role Information

The standard term of office for each member of the Board is three (3) years.

The board meets bi-monthly (every 2 months) either in person in Auckland, New Zealand OR remotely via video conference. Board meetings are typically 2 hours duration.

Board members will be expected to contribute time and energy outside board meetings to promote PIFR’s vision and principals.

As PIFR is a registered Charity and working in the Not For Profit/International Development sector these board roles are not paid (voluntary)
