We have a full-time (37.5 hours) one-year fixed-term position available (with the possibility of being made permanent dependent on funding) located in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland
Ko wai mātou – Who are we
Volunteer Service Abroad: Te Tūao Tāwāhi (VSA) is a volunteering agency working in international development. We develop partnerships so we can send our volunteers on assignment. Our volunteers share their skills, experiences, and knowledge with local people and communities in the wider pacific region to make real, sustainable change.

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position
As our Principal Liaison – Pacific Partnerships, you will build trusted connections with Pacific-led organisations and communities in Aotearoa. Identifying who and how best to create strategic relationships that will enable collaboration. You will play an important role in promoting and implementing VSA’s Pacific Engagement Plan. You will use our internal CRM / Stakeholder Management system to ensure engagement with contacts is appropriately captured and managed.
You will engage with Pacific Peoples, community leaders and organisations, primarily in Aotearoa, nurturing relationships and developing volunteering opportunities and projects. Writing clear business cases and project plans; ensuring effective coordination of any projects that have been collaboratively developed. This may include seeking funding to support activities or projects.
Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role
We are looking for someone that embodies manaakitanga and believes in shared learning through volunteering and partnerships. You are a connector and a people person, bringing to this role your extensive network of contacts across Pacific-led organisations and communities.
You will ideally:
- Be experienced in building and nurturing relationships.
- Be an excellent communicator, particularly in cross-cultural settings.
- Have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing projects and events.
- Have an understanding of international development within the Pacific context.
This is our sole role based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland with one of our partner organisations, there is flexibility to work-from-home up to a couple of days a week. There will be regular travel as part of this role.
