About Us
The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ works to end avoidable blindness and vision impairment in the Pacific. We work with Pacific partners to restore sight, train local eye health specialists to provide eye care services in their own communities and work to strengthen local health systems so that everyone can access quality eye care.
The Foundation continues the work of a legendary New Zealander, the late Professor Fred Hollows. Fred was an internationally acclaimed eye surgeon and social justice activist who championed the right of all people to high quality and affordable eye care. hollows.org.nz.
We are looking for an Academic and Workforce Support Manager to join our team in Auckland!
Your responsibilities will include
Academic Training: Work closely with our partner universities to support local colleagues to manage the regular review, update and development of the mid- level eye care curriculum ensuring the integrity, relevance and currency of the course materials and that delivery is high quality and consistent across the region.
Management and Leadership: Work with local Work Force Support (WFS) managers to support their leadership, management, and implementation of WFS activities across the region, aligned to our Pacific partners’ priorities as defined in the regional programmes plan.
Workforce Support: Work with the WFS managers and the Regional Operations Advisor to support with co-ordination of eye care equipment and consumables (including spectacles) ordering according to requirements and aligned to relevant processes, external supplier relationships, and in-country stock management systems.
Regional Programmes: Work closely with programmes quality team colleagues to support effective research, resource mobilisation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning (MERL), information and data collection and regional programmes management.
Every member of The Foundation brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for with this role:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in eye care
- Relevant clinical qualification and clinical experience in eye care
- Strong teaching, lecturing, assessment and course management skills and experience
- Relevant experience of supporting post-qualification training and/ or professional development
- Team leadership and management experience and skills, preferably in the Pacific context
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Experience of international development programming
- Organised and attentive to detail, yet flexible.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
