UNICEF: International Programmes Manager

Posted on 22 May 2020

UNICEF is the world’s leading children’s agency. They work in 190 countries to help children survive and thrive, providing clean water and sanitation, education, healthcare, nutrition, and child protection. They are mandated by the United Nations to advocate for the protection of children’s rights here in NZ and around the world.

The International Programmes Manager will be responsible for a suite of programmes which UNICEF NZ is supporting in the Pacific Islands and South-East Asia. They will work in a well-functioning international programmes team and report to the Head of International Development Programmes, assist with strategy and design of our international aid programme and manage key stakeholder relationships including the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and UNICEF Country Offices.

This is an exciting role, one where no two days are alike, where you will have a significant sense of job satisfaction knowing your work contributes to making a real difference to children’s lives. This includes ensuring the programmes team is a full part of the integrated fundraising, advocacy, and communications work programmes of UNICEF NZ.

Experience of international development programmes, project/programme management training and finance management are core expectations of the role, also forming and building strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders. Experience working with MFAT’s funding mechanisms for international development and emergency response would be an advantage. Experience of projects in the Pacific, Timor Leste, Laos or PNG would also be an advantage
