The call has gone out to our community, our families at home in Samoa, are needing our help. The families who are affected by this measles epidemic in Samoa, are still experiencing the heavy toll both emotionally and financially.

Seiulialii Dr George Leao Tuitama "For those personally affected, by loss of a family member, or watching their loved one in the hospital, this epidemic has pushed many people's coping mechanisms to the breaking point," he said Two more people died from measles in Samoa over the New Year period. The ministry said 30 new cases of measles were reported during the same period. Patients with measles are currently admitted to Samoa's main hospital, including critically ill children. Samoa's Ministry of Health Mental Health unit has warned of the growing psychological impact of the measles epidemic and is urging people to seek help. Seiulialii said the team was providing both emotional and spiritual support.

The Samoan and New Zealand community are known for their generous hearts to give. Ten years ago Samoa was hit with the Tsunami tragedy that claimed hundreds of lives, and the community responded. And now ten years later we are faced with another tragedy, in our home of Samoa. This time we have a measles epidemic that is taking our babies and affecting many families, which is hitting much closer to home for us.

We know our community is hurting, and we, the Music Community, who once again have heard the call and have responded with beautiful generous hearts, are donating their talents and services to collectively raise funds to support the families that have lost loved ones to the measles epidemic.
