CID wishes to acknowledge the passing of Moana Jackson, Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine and Ngāti Porou, and thank him for his guidance and leadership. Jackson remains one of Aotearoa’s foremost legal thinkers and commentators, not only on domestic issues but also on the global stage. He served as a judge on the People’s International Tribunal in the 1990s, and led the drafting of the United Nations declaration on the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
