Photo Competition 2024

We are excited to announce that applications for the Photo Competition 2024 are now open!

The Photo Award will be featured at the annual Conference on September 4th and 5th 2024 in Wellington.

Categories

  1. International development – amateur photographers
  2. Humanitarian aid and emergency response – amateur photographers
  3. Humanitarian and development - professional photographers (non-prize category)
  4. ‘Locally-led’ – could include partners (be creative!)

Entries will be judged on originality, narrative, and composition.

Winning and runner-up photographs will be announced at the dinner at Parliament on September 4th. They may also be shared and promoted on our CID communication channels.

Entries close 5pm Thursday 1st August 2024.

Photo requirements

  • Photographs must be a minimum of 300 dpi;
  • Photographs must be accompanied with the location, photographer’s name and a very brief description of the activity with those featured named if possible - e.g. “Emali, Kenya: Masai family planting drought resistance crops following training as part of building resilience for drought affected communities in Kenya. Photo: Joe Smith, Aid2All NZ Aotearoa”
  • All photos should reflect the principles and obligations of the CID Code of Conduct; specially C.1.3 Portrayal of local people.
  • You/organisations can submit up to three (3) photographs per category;
  • By submitting photographs you are also agreeing for CID to use the photos in its publications to promote good development practice;
  • CID will not release any entries received to any third party; and photo credits for the photographer and related NGO will be given for all photos used in any CID publication.
  • Selected photos may be exhibited in a public space (with organisation credit & logo) and displayed on CID’s website.
