Bangladesh’s 2023 Dengue Fever outbreak the most extreme in decades

Reports have revealed that over 1000 people have died of Dengue Fever in Bangladesh this year – quadrupling last year’s numbers, and making it the worst outbreak since 2000. Save the Children have reported that the 2023 death toll includes 113 children.
 
Conflict ravaged Sudan is also experiencing huge numbers of Dengue caseswith hundreds reported dead as the health systems continue to deteriorate in the nation.
 
With a rise in this disease having been experienced by many countries this year, experts are saying with the El Nino weather phase and longer term climate effectswidespread Dengue outbreak is only going to increase.
