Pakistan has declared “a serious climate catastrophe” and “a climate dystopia at our doorstep” as deaths from widespread flooding pass 1,000 since mid-June. The massive floods have affected around 30 million people, and around 1 million houses are totally or partially damaged leaving millions in need of urgent shelter.
Interior ministry official Salman Sufi told the BBC the country was desperate for international support.
