Samoan Prime Minister addresses how technology can "bridge the digital divide" for Pacific nations

Earlier this month, Fiame Naomi Mata‘afa, Prime Minister of Samoa, provided a keynote address at ASPI’s Sydney Dialoguea policy summit focusing on critical and emerging cyber and space technologies. Mata’afa spoke to the way good technological practice can empower Pacific nations, and how “technology has the power to transform island states and bring about positive change.”
 
“Small island developing states are facing a range of challenges due to their size, isolation and vulnerability to external forces,” she explained. “With the help of innovative solutions, small island developing states can make strides towards reaching their development goals.”
