Posted on 14 December 2022

Last week, CID’s Executive Director, Peter Rudd, met with Ms Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary General and Regional Director for the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific for the United Nations Development Programme. Joining the meeting in Auckland was Audrey Aumua, CEO of The Fred Hollows Foundation, and Ian McInnes, CEO, of Tearfund.

Discussions were centred around impactful development and looked at how Aotearoa New Zealand, UNDP, and partners, can work together in the region to address urgent issues including violence against women, improved education, clean energy transition, and localisation of humanitarian disaster response. Peter Rudd provided the Regional Director with an update on CID’s role and purpose as the umbrella organisation for the INGO sector. Ian McInnes and Audrey Aumua provided an overview of the INGO sector and current developments.
