WHAT:
  • Practical, on-line workshops 
  • 2x two-hour zoom session
WHEN:
  • Wednesday 18th November 12:00pm - 2:00pm
  • Thursday 19th November 12:00pm - 2:00pm
WHY:
  • Revisit the role of gender mainstreaming in development and humanitarian responses, along with the role and impact of COVID on gender equality
  • Provide rich examples of gender mainstreaming in Asia-Pacific
  • Support participants to learn new skills and apply them to case-studies.
WHO:

Facilitated by two internationally leading gender experts, with vast expertise of working across the globe, particularly in the Pacific.

Anna Cowley (Day 1)

Anna is from Fiji, and is a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Specialist and trainer.

She has worked on DFAT fund projects across the Pacific, and for a large range of civil society organisations, including Care Australia on their 'Pacific Gender in Emergencies' project; a gender review of coffee and cocoa certification standards in PNG, and much more. 

Gina Houng Lee  (Day 2)
 
Gina is also from Fiji, and is a feminist and gender advocate for women's human rights in the Pacific. She worked as a Gender Specialist at the 'Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development Program', funded by DFAT, and has specialised in supporting Pacific women to participate fully in political, economic and social life. 

She is currently on the board of Save the Children Fiji.

  • Revisits gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Aid Programme
  • What is ‘gender responsive development programming’? 
  • Apply new skills together, with case-studies.
DAY 2 - Thursday 19th November 12:00pm - 2:00pm
  • Explore the impact COVID is having on gender equality
  • Case studies on gender responsiveness 
  • Discuss how the tools learnt in Day 1 can be best applied.
