Many groups in the community exist for purposes that the law recognises as being “charitable”. As these groups provide a benefit to the public,
there are a number of tax and GST concessions provided to them. In these 2 webinars we will look at a number of practical issues that arise as
a result of these concessions.
The webinars use case studies to explore the rules, requirements and interpretation of income tax and GST legislation affecting charities.
Specifically, the webinars will cover:
- Session 1 – Technical Issues:
- Tax exemption
- Deregistering a charity
- Donee status
- What is (or is not) a donation that qualifies for a tax credit
- Session 2 – Operational Issues:
- Payments to “helpers”
- FBT issues
- GST issues
