Call for sexual and reproductive health rights to remain central

In a speech delivered to the United Nations General Assembly: Commission on Population and Development, H.E. Ms. Carolyn Schwalger, noted concerns that hard fought advances regarding sexual and reproductive rights have “come under significant threat as a result of the global pandemic.” She said that: “It has disrupted access to essential social and health services and increased rates of sexual and gender-based violence and child, early and forced marriage.”
 
Ms. Schwalger called on the Commission to ensure that these rights remain central to its work.
