Coalition talks are underway in the Cook Islands following the August 1 election, with the governing Cook Islands Party confident of being able to form government. There was no immediate majority winner in the 2022 General Election after the preliminary count. However, the governing Cook Islands Party holds the upper hand to retain power with support of Independent seats.
