How should the next Australian govt handle Pacific engagement?

The draft security agreement between China and Solomon Islands highlighted that a “business as usual” Australian (as well as New Zealand) approach to the Pacific may no longer be enough. With Australian election coming up in May, it is safe to expect a considerable degree of continuity in their approach to the region, however.
