Australia will spend $65 million building a new High Commission in the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara amid record aid for the Pacific. The government lifted its aid funding to the Pacific region to $1.85 billion in 2022-23. It also doubled the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific to $3 billion. “Australia is the Pacific’s largest development partner, security partner of choice, and most importantly, we are family,” Minister for International Development and the Pacific Zed Seselja said.
