The entrenchment of racism in development institutions

When George Floyd was killed in Minnesota in police custody two years ago, it triggered something of a reckoning over racism in global development. But did that change anything? 

“These are early days,” Winnie Byanyima, executive director of UNAIDS told Devex at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. “We've had racism with us for 500 years. It was an idea that was created to justify slavery,” she said. “It's entrenched in the institutions we have."
